9/11

It's been a hectic few weeks and wanted to post some pictures of an album I just finished and though I know what today is, when I just typed the date it hit me again. I can't believe it's been 9 years since everything changed. Enough said..

Last night I went to a terrific 30th birthday party for Beau at Mix. It was such fun, everyone dressed from the 80's!!! I managed to get my drunk butt up and still go to scrapper's playground to get this album done.

Well what do you know?

This week had been stressful. My daugther went away to Cyprus this weekend and the week consisted of lots of running around. In addition we went to a concert at Jones Beach to see Paramore on Friday night. The concert was great.
Dropped lyssa off at JFK on Saturday and spent the rest of the day w/my BF and her girls. I ended up staying up al night tracking my daughter flight to Germany and then onto Cyprus, I couldn't sleep til I knew she was at her destination which ended up being 7am our time. At that point why bother going to sleep? I had all intentions of going to the beach but the weather was not cooperating. It was crazy cloudy and I didn't think it would be worth the effort or $22 fee to go out and be miserable.(of course it turned out to be a great day at beach, as I was told by other friends who went :() However I digress. I actually did something creative today!! I found 1 mini lunch box in ACmoore and used Okieladybug's cut file from her blog to make this:

Circle Forum Weekend Challenger 7/24

Since it's way too hot to go shopping or to the beach, I decided to take up a challenge on the Cricut Circle board. The challenge was to use a cart you have but have never used. So I decided to use French Manor even thought I just got it, I should have used an older cart that I've never touched, but since I'm working on my daugther's Paris pictures, this one made more sense. So here's the layout I came up with which I am going to use as her first page of her album.

Wedding Album

This will be the 3rd wedding album I've done in a year's time. Here's how it's starting out. I've been lucky enough to get an IROCK so this album will have a lot of bling. The IROCK is a tool that adheres the rhinestones, it's made by Imaginisce and I got mine through http://www.glendascreativeplace.com/. Check it out.

Been a long time

I've so neglected my blog. I'm going to try to keep up w/it a little better especially now that I've joined the cricut circle. Since I've invested to much in it, I should make sure I actually do more crafting. I'm working of a few projects right now that I hope to complete in the next few weeks. I'm going to try to start posting photo this week.

Cricle Circle Welcome Kit

Yay!!! It finally came. After signing up for the cricut circle on 6/15, I've been on pins and needles waiting for my welcome kit. Well, the wait it over and it came today!! Can't wait to use the French Manor cartridge on Lyssa's France scrapbook.

I'm looking foward to doing some serious scrapping. I have all my daughter's pictures developed from her London/Paris trip and I'm ready to go. Sunday, I'm holding a crop at scrapper's playground and made this filled w/goodies.

Happy birthday to me

It's funny, the older the I get the longer my birthday celebrations last. It started on Saturday night visiting Carol and her family for a BBQ where after dinner she whipped out a Hagen Daaz cake. Sunday it started with another brunch at Pomme Cafe and then off to Randall's Island to see Cirque du Soleil's new show, Ovo. Sunday night my family treated me to dinner at Cara Bella on 30th Avenue and 47th Street. I enjoyed my penne alla vodka, but won't be running back anytime soon. When Monday rolled around, my actual birthday, my office had a black and white cake and lots of presents! I've had it in my head to try new places in Astoria, so I finally ventured to Bareburger on 31st Avenue. I must say was totally underwhelmed. My daughter had the burger which was just just okay, I tried the panko breaded chicken which was tough and overcooked. The fries, however, were great.

Tuesday was Spa day at Castle Spa in Whitestone with Chrissy and Carol. OMG, this place was fabulous!!! My suggestion is to go during the week, I can only imagine how crowded it is over the weekend. Can I say how much I love the bar at the pool?

Wednesday was karaoke at Mix in Astoria, no I didn't get up and sing, that will never happen, but the cosmos were awesome!!

As the weather has brightened, so has my mood and desire to be outside. Last Wednesday's unexpected bout of gorgeous weather impelled me to take a half day and go to the beach. Yes, the beach in early April, who would have thought?? It never fails to amaze me how walking onto the beach can give me such a feeling of tranquility

Brunch at Pomme Cafe

Today lyssa and I went to Pomme Cafe on 38th Street and Broadway in Astoria for brunch. It was a beautiful spring day so we opted to sit outside. The brunch menu includes a mimosa or bloody mary, coffee or tea, basket of croissants and choice of entre. I had the rice crispy french toast and lyssa had the quiche. Both were quite good. Lyssa also had hot chocolate which was served with marshmellows and drizzled w/ caramel sauce. Afterwards we headed into the city to Moma to see the Tim Burton exhibit was very cool but totally crowded. Hate tourists!!

Envelope mini album

This is one of the things I worked on at yesterday's crop. It's a 10 page mini album made from No. 10 envelopes. I saw a great tutorial on Youtube by Followthepapertrail.

Spring has Sprung

I know it's been forever since I've made any entries to my blog, but anyone who knows me is aware of my total abhorence for the winter. Waking up everyday and making it into to work took all my engery leaving none to ramble here, except to bitch and moan which I wanted to spare you all from. Add to the mix that January I came down w/ some crazy allergic reaction to some unknown agent and I now carry an epi-pen (which was not cheap and not covered by insurance) and then spent two out of the 4 weeks of Febraury sick as a dog, that brings me almost current. My winter highlights that I can name would be seeing Eddie Izzard (a comedian), Lady Gaga (she's awesome) and I did a 3 day crop w/ friends w/the girls from Crop for a Cure. Now that was a fun weekend even though it was during that massive snowstorm we had in February. There was a lot of laughs, massages, music and vodka, who could ask for anything more?? well, maybe some sexy times w/ Edward Cullen, or any of the guys of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I do love my fictional males.

Now that spring is here, the sandals are out, mani/pedi's will be occurring weekly and my disposition will be sunny (well most days, anyway, after all it's still me.) I'm going to start working on Lyssa's Paris/London scrapbook and have plans for the next several weekends. I actually won 2 tickets for tim burton's exhibit at MOMA which we will try to see next weekend, and the weekend after that is Easter where we will spend at the Milleridge Inn. After that I will be seeing Cirque du Soleil's Ova in Randall's Island.
