How Well do you know Disney?

okay, kiddies, as most of you know, I'm going to disney to celebrate my daughter's 23rd (gasp!) birthday. She was just down with friends a month ago and she would randomly text me a photo and I had to identify where she was. Well, I had such a great time doing it, I thought I would in turn do the same via my blog. So, tune in and put your mickey ears on if you want to play. I am going to randomly upload pictures to my blog of various places in WDW. Since I won't have internet access, I won't be able to see your responses until I get back, unless you know me personally and can text me your answer.

Sunnyside Gardens Craft Fair

Last week my friend and I tried our hand at selling our scrap stuff. The day was gorgeous and the place was filled with families. We had a great day and sold some things, but the big hit was the make-and-takes. the kids loved making halloween cards and we made back our money for the table with that alone. Here's a few pics of our set-up

Back from CKC

I'm back from CKC and exhausted!!!!!! The Marriot hotel at the convention center was really nice. It had a Starbucks, sit-down restaurant and bar, I was happy!
CKC had some awesome deals on past kits and products, but I restained myself! There were only about 49 vendors which I was suprised, I would have thought with an organization like CK, there would have been more.

I took two classes, one withTechnique tuesday which was amazing!!!! I will post a pictures of the layout when I did it out. The other class was by CKC called Flocked and Fabulous. It was a good class because now I see how easy it is to use.

I was able to get the cricut deep blade housing and the tinkerbell cartridge, so I was super excited about that. I can't wait to make Tink.

Friday night's crop was chaotic. There was an annoucer the WHOLE time talking throughout the night, it was so distracting, I was ready to scream. Granted they were calling names and giving out prizes, but jeeesh it was non-stop. During the night, various vendors came out for limited amouts of time w/specials. It was like vultures picking apart a dead carcass. Unbelievable!!!

Saturday's crops was a little low more low keyed, less prizes and less talking. Some vendors didn't want to pack up some merchandise so they left it for the croppers which was kind of cool. I ended up coming back w/two full bags of stuff, between what I bought and received at the crops.

I would definitely do it again and make a weekend out of it, but would skip the Friday crop and only do the saturday one. I'd rather either go into the city for a nice dinner or just crop in the room. I'm attaching a picture of Tanya and me at the bar before the crop and a pic of the hotel.

CKC here we Come

I'm so excited that I will be going to Hartford to CKC. My friend Tanya and I decided to make a weekend of it and will stay at the Marriot which is attached to the convention center. We were playing with the idea of doing the spa thing as well, but as we have the vendor faire, classes and the crop, I don't think we'll have enough time. I'm going to post pictures from CKC right to my blog of any cool things we see and do.

September 11th-7 Years Later

I can't believe it's been seven years since the fall of the towers. As I sit here watching the History Channel which is showing footage taken by people who were in their apartments nearby and on the street, it brings back the horror of that day and all the days that followed. My family and I were lucky enough not to have lost anyone in that horrific tragedy, but all our lives changed forever after that day. As all the major TV stations had their antennas on the top of the towers, I was only able to get one station that night and for weeks to follow. I would literally be watching the news from the time I came home until 3 or 4 am, in the hopes that the police and firefighters would find survivors. I felt that as long as I was watching dilligently, there was still hope. I had really had hope for days. Had I seen the footage I'm watching now seven years ago, I don't think I would have had any hope. No one could have survived that. Before 9/11, I, like so many New Yorkers took so much for granted. Not only did our skyline change forever, so did our way of life. I will always remember and I will never forget. My prayers once again are with those that were lost and the families they left behind.

Bye Bye Summer, con't

Last week when I was at Scrapaholics, Newsday was there doing a video segment for their website on crafty things. Alison helped the interviewer make a paperbag album and then she proceeded to interview me. Not my forte, but I'll post it here anyway.
It's a 5 minute video and I'm featured in the 2nd segment.

Bye Bye Summer

The end of summer has historically been a very depressing time for me. I hate NY winters and once September rolls around, even though the weather is still beautiful, I know what's coming. Thoughts of shoveling snow, mud, ice and slush fills my heart with despair. So, in order to help alleviate my winter blues, I'm going to do the following to get me through the fall:

September- attend the "no expo" event at Scrapaholics on the 13th and 14th

-go the Queens County Farm Fair on the 20th

- see the New Kids on the Block on the 24th @ Nassau Coliseum

- attend the scrap pink crop @ Scrapaholics on the 27th or 28th

- through the month I will also be teaching classes at Scrapaholics

October-3-5 attend CKC in Hartford CT w/Tanya

12th- do a craft fair that Tanya just signed us up for in Sunnyside

31st-my cousin's annual Halloween Party

November -2 Crop for a Cure

3-12 DISNEYWORLD, yippeee

Now that I found out I'm actually doing a craft fair, I need to move my butt into gear and starting making some cool stuff. Here's some things I've been working on, please leave feedback.

Debbie Downer be gone!

I'm tired of being a downer, so for at least the next 5 posts I promise to be upbeat. Today was good day. Work went well and I taught the "white on white" card class at scrapaholics. I came home and spent some quality time with my daughter and finally caught up on about a week's worth of emails. So, it was a good day. Last week I took a recipe book class w/Pam that I absolutely loved! I loved the book so much I made changed the orientation and make a halloween mini album using her format. I'm posting the recipe book which was done w/the cherry paper and the halloween book
